Raga Chilakamarri

Noah and I met during the Fulbright Spain orientation in September 2023 and became fast friends; eager to work together creatively, we decided to make a short film. Inspired by our personal experiences, Provenance aims to capture the sense of loneliness and search for meaning in a new place. Visually, we hoped to strike the contrast between Anya’s heartbroken interiority and her external environment in the beautiful and irrepressibly romantic Madrid, employing static, wide shots. Our Spanish and English-speaking cast and crew was comprised of friends, acquaintences, classmates, strangers, and local actors. Along with co-writing the screenplay, I served as a producer, storyboard artist, and script-supervisor and was heavily involved with all pre-production aspects including casting, location scouting, art direction, and costume design. Shot over the course of 4 days, our scrappy production was only possible through fundraising efforts, many favors, and the support of our amazing community in Madrid!!
